Ringworm is a fungal infection that can appear anywhere on the skin. If it develops on the scalp, it can cause patches of hair loss known as tinea capitis. Typically, it begins as a tiny blister that slowly expands in size, leaving behind scaly spots of temporary baldness. The fungus enters hair fibers of the affected area, wherein hairs become brittle and break off. Affected areas are characterized by itchy, red inflammation. Scaly patches caused by this infection are usually redder around the exterior with a more normal skin tone in the center. This creates the appearance of a ring, hence the name ringworm.

Male Pattern Baldness

Male pattern baldness (also called androgenetic alopecia) is the most common type of hair loss in men, usually caused by genetics or having a family history of baldness.

According to research, male pattern baldness is closely related to male sex hormones called androgen, which has many functions including regulating hair growth. With male pattern baldness, your hair growth cycle begins to weaken and causes hair follicles to shrink, producing shorter and finer strands of hair. Eventually, the growth cycle for each hair stops, and hair regrowth won’t take place.
